I am 

a broadcast graphic designer and software developer with expertise in real-time rendering.  I work for Fox Sports in Charlotte, NC.  Our large scale projects are accomplished through the efforts of a great team, and a lot of experience with the Vizrt software suite.  Building beautiful graphics for the home viewer is the central goal, and building towards that goal requires innovative workflows.

Regardless of the project, I am shaping the experience of an end user.  And this always includes some level of interactivity.  Consider the in house software tools built for other artists to use, or the feature rich templates used by newsroom producers.  I also build touchscreen graphics which may be the easiest to identify as interactive.

  • Writing staff to become graphics enabled through templates

  • On Air personnel to use interactive screens and walls to tell a story through touch

  • Real world video to be augmented by realistic virtual graphics

  • Data integration from many sources, such as social, sports, and financial

  • Other artists to be their best with innovative software tools

Such a designer must be versed in traditional image editing software and be a workflow developer.  Their skills at scripting must match their eye for color.

of my interests include things like games, puzzles, and graphics from any source.  I love to watch how other software developers solve complex user interface problems.

Physical and electronic games represent data rich environments where a multitude of elements compete for the user's attention.  In spite of all of this complexity, a simple interface must be created which allows for the user to know exactly what needs to be done and how to accomplish that goal.  Many of the same solutions have been applied to broadcast graphics workflows.

My inspiration can come from many activities and media.  I am an avid reader, a husband and a father.
